Free speech and a free press were recognized by the founders as vital to a democracy; so vital that they are protected by the constitution. The Journalism and Democracy fund helps support research examining the role of journalists, news organizations, and news in democratic self-governance. Such research is at the heart of the School’s mission “to collaborate with academics and journalists around the globe in training and research initiatives that improve the practice and understanding of journalism in the service of democratic societies.” Your donation to the Journalism and Democracy fund will support the research of our students and faculty at this critical time.
