Toni J. Sullivan, EdD, RN, FAAN, was dean of the Sinclair School of Nursing at the time our PhD program was established (1993). Upon her retirement, she set up an endowment to provide funds to PhD students in the Sinclair School of Nursing who need financial assistance to complete their dissertation research project.
With advancing times and the growth of the University, Advancement now requires $25,000 for this fund (as opposed to the required $15,000 when the fund was established). As you may know, our PhD program has made great strides in recent years including doubling enrollment size, obtaining the NINR funded T32 Health Behavior Science Training grant, and PhD graduates winning local, regional, and national dissertation awards. Thus, the need for PhD student funding for their dissertation research will continue to grow.
