Tom Miltenberger, BJ ’69, M Ed ’71, began his 55-year relationship with the University of Missouri when he was recruited on a basketball scholarship where he played both forward and guard. Tom joined Edward Jones in 1975 as the 120th financial advisor in the one broker/one office manager system pioneered by Ted Jones. He managed branches in Marshall, Mo. and Liberal, Ks. before being named a principle with the firm and relocating to St. Louis.
Tom was an advocate and volunteer for his alma mater. He served as co-chair of the Advisory Board for the MU Department of Finance and was a member of the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Advisory Council.
Over the past few months, friends and family members established the Tom W. Miltenberger Distinguished Professorship in Cancer Research. This fund is a powerful way to honor Tom’s legacy by supporting two things he was passionate about – his alma mater and supporting the fight against cancer.
Tom is survived by his wife, Susan, along with their son, Trent, his wife, Kate, and their son, Tyke.
