Dr. Bob McCallum spent 36 years at the MU School of Medicine. After earning his doctorate in clinical psychology at MU in 1970, he joined the faculty as a psychiatry instructor. In 1987, he was appointed Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and as Associate Dean for Student Programs in 2003. Known for his uncompromising academic and professional standards and beloved for his sharp wit, booming laughter and compassion, Dr. McCallum championed the students he mentored. Dr. McCallum passed away on November 28, 2020. The endowment that bears his name reflects his devotion to faculty and students alike. Its purpose is twofold: to annually honor an exceptional faculty member nominated by the students and to support a first - or second - year medical student in need of additional resources to address mental health issues. Donations to this fund will continue his legacy.
