Dorris Brown received his BS from CAFNR in 1935 and after working for 15 years as an Extension agent, obtained a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Harvard University. Christine Brown received her degree in journalism in 1933. Dorris Brown worked for the Ford Foundation and the World Bank and felt that these international experiences enriched his career and his life. The purpose of the Brown Fellowship is to stimulate interest among U.S. graduate students in developing an international dimension to their career goals. Fellowship funds are provided to enable talented graduate students to gather research data and to experience the culture and institutional structures of agriculture outside the United States.
