Norman Bowers, PhD ’75 economics, is remembered for his exceptional intellectual ability, commitment, and humanity. Friends and family established the Norman Bowers Scholarship Fund to continue his legacy. Your gift will be used to assist graduate students writing dissertations or theses on labor topics with a strong policy focus. Special preference is given to students who conduct research on the well-being of vulnerable groups in the labor market or exemplify the careful use of empirical data.
Bowers was a leading researcher in empirical labor economics. He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and then went on to have a successful career with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
By making a gift, you can honor Bowers’ life and support students who are continuing his work. For questions regarding gifts of stock or other types of giving, please contact the Arts & Science Development Office at 573-882-4421. All contributions count toward membership in the Jefferson Club.
