The MU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is the only 24-hour veterinary emergency hospital in our region. Our Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care unit is staffed by at least one licensed veterinarian and skilled veterinary technicians 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We can perform critical diagnostics at any time, and stabilization, intensive care hospitalization, isolation and around-the-clock monitoring are provided as needed. Complex diagnostic and surgical procedures are also performed for emergency cases.
To continue providing mid-Missouri pet owners this level of care, additional funds are needed. An endowed program to support emergency and critical care for companion animals will allow us to hire another emergency veterinarian, thus ensuring that we are able to continue this crucial service without interruption.
