This scholarship in Nursing was established at the University of Missouri to honor the memory of Gina Tutera Lanham, who passed away in 2015. The scholarship is a fitting and meaningful tribute to Gina’s time at MU and her life’s work of caring for new mothers and their children.
After Gina graduated from the Sinclair School of Nursing in 1986, she worked at University Hospital in Columbia, where she met and married her best friend, Steve Lanham. Gina and Steve subsequently moved to St. Charles, Missouri, where Gina pursued a 20-year career at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis and delivered thousands of babies into the world.
Gina was a giver, in every sense of the word – to her work as a nurse, to her friends and to her family. She always believed that a person’s education is never “done,” and she was a strong believer in the importance of continuing education. She lived her life with a strong work ethic and a goal to be the very best nurse possible.
Gina was a life-long friend and supporter of both the Sinclair School of Nursing and the University of Missouri in general. The Gina Tutera Lanham Memorial Scholarship in Nursing was established to assist those students who want to pursue their passion for nursing and patient care through studies at the University of Missouri.
