Dr. Julie Middleton Scholarship in Educational Leadership

Dr. Julie Middleton was an elementary teacher in Virginia and joined the MU College of Education as a graduate instructor in 1991. Since 2009, she has been an adjunct associate professor in the College’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. As Director of Organizational Development and Extension Professional at MU, Middleton provides leadership for special projects, professional development, revenue generation, diversity, promotion and systems for organizational growth and effectiveness.

Middleton lends her talents to numerous academic and community organization as board member and advisor. She is celebrated for her leadership with awards including the MU College of Education Alumni Organization Citation of Merit, the Chancellor’s Tribute to Women, the NAACP Outstanding Community Servant Award, the MU Inclusive Excellence Award, and the Governor’s Martin Luther King, Jr Award.

The Dr. Julie Nelson Middleton Scholarship in Educational Leadership was established in the College of Education by Dr. Julie Middleton and her husband Mr. Mike Middleton.  Preference for this award goes to African-American students pursuing a graduate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in the College of Education.
