Since 1984 Missouri mule teams have served as goodwill ambassadors for the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. The mule teams have attended countless parades, picnics, petting zoos, fairs and festivals throughout Missouri. This past spring, Kate and Molly joined the Mule Club family, as the fourth team and newest representatives of the College of Veterinary Medicine. While the mules have changed over the years, the barn that houses them has not. The current barn consists of two older repurposed buildings that were put together when Hillda and Louise joined us in 1984. The current facility is now deficient with rotting support posts, a leaking roof, floors that flood, and a separation between the walls that connect the two buildings. While we have explored options to renovate the barn, we have determined the structure must be replaced. Plans for the new barn include heated tack rooms, improved stalls for the mules, restrooms for the caretakers, and space to safely and securely store the truck, trailer and wagon. The cost of the project, including the barn, infrastructure, such as plumbing and heating, and fencing repairs will be $200,000. Please join us as we raise funds for a new home for our beloved mules.
