Graduates of the School of Journalism know it is important to demonstrate professional etiquette and have an understanding about all types of cultures. Each of us co-creates the environment we want to experience in the J-School, as well as in our communities and places of employment. Prof. Tanya Heath and dedicated students through independent studies, PR Writing or Diversity Events classes are creating activities that promote the ideal of being respectful, open-minded, thoughtful, and welcoming to everyone we meet. Prof. Heath and her students have created events like J-Cool and the Footprint Project with success in the J-School and beyond as students around our campus heard about the activities. These heartfelt activities included a relaxation station, snacks, music, an art gallery, a "walk in my shoes" activity and a documentary film. Prof. Heath plans to continue this programming in future semesters and is looking for alumni donations to support these activities.
