Swallowing disorders such as megaesophagus affect dogs of all ages, leading to weight loss, regurgitation, aspiration pneumonia and in many dogs, death. MU Veterinarians are investigating groundbreaking diagnostics and treatments to improve the quality and quantity of life in dogs with swallowing disorders. Few sensations are as frightening to pet dogs and cats as the inability to breathe. Respiratory disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in dogs and cats. This fund supports research in asthma, aspiration pneumonia, infectious pneumonia, fibrotic lung disease (sometimes called “idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis”) and other rare, debilitating or fatal lung disorders. The purpose of the fund is to understand more about these diseases for earlier and more accurate diagnosis and targeted treatments. Your donation will help improve the way we diagnose and manage swallowing and respiratory disorders by supporting clinical research intended to improve the lives of dogs and cats.
