Engineering Professor Robert Eastman and his graduate assistant, Lee Raney, launched the industrial engineering department in the MU College of Engineering in 1958. That first year, the program served approximately 50 students from all engineering disciplines and a half-decade later, continues to be a vibrant, vital entity in the college. To honor the founders’ achievements and the endeavors of faculty, staff, alumni and students who have ensured the department’s continuing success, the Eastman family, the Raney family and the family of current department chairman, Luis Occeña, are establishing an endowment to provide scholarships for high-achieving students.
