Most of our animals are beloved members of our family. Can you imagine if a member of your family was struggling to see? Few experiences are as heartbreaking as watching your dog struggle to navigate stairs or bumping into your furniture. Horses with poor vision put both themselves and their riders at serious risk. A blind cat often remains frightened and hidden under your bed. These are eye problems we treat every single day! The ophthalmology section of the MU-VHC offers state of the art medical and surgical ophthalmology referral services to the state of Missouri as well as surrounding areas. We have a robust case-load in both the small animal and equine clinic areas. We are passionately dedicated to improving the welfare of our patients through the preservation and/or restoration of vision. Our service provides a tremendous learning opportunity for our students interested in equine practice, small animal practice, and/or specialty training in ophthalmology.
