Thank you for your interest in supporting the Mizzou AeroTigers!
As Mizzou’s only aviation design team we aim to provide University of Missouri – Columbia students with a professional and inclusive environment to learn about aircraft design, manufacturing, and flight, and develop hands-on, industry-related skills through participation in the annual AIAA Design, Build, Fly competition. The competition is a complex team project that encompasses every aspect of small-scale aircraft design, manufacturing, testing, and flight. Please follow the link to our Instagram to check out photos from our build process, last year’s competition, and member spotlights. We give our members opportunities to network with aerospace industry professionals, compete on an international scale, build useful engineering skills, and engage effectively with the community. Involvement in this organization has helped current members and alumni the skills and abilities to acquire jobs at Boeing, Textron, Northrup Grumman, Spirit AeroSystems, LMI Aerospace, Black and Veatch, and more.
This year, our design proposal placed 2nd in the world out of 149 different universities, and we plan on moving forward with that success into the in-person fly-off! On April 18th, 2024, our team members will attend the 2024 AIAA DBF Fly-off in Wichita, Kansas. The four-day event gives up to 110 teams the opportunity to fly their competition aircraft and show off their designs. Our organization is attempting to fund at least eight of our members to travel to Wichita to attend the event on behalf of the University of Missouri. Our funding goal of $1,500 will cover the remaining costs associated with manufacturing and flying our plane, including purchasing parts for our propulsion team such as an additional motor, electronic speed controller, receiver, and batteries. It would also cover our remaining travel costs and key structural aircraft components such as carbon fiber spars, 3D print filament, and birch wood for laser-cutting.
Again, thank you for considering supporting our organization. We are incredibly excited for the competition and appreciate any donations that help lead to our success! Please feel free to reach out to us at any time for more information regarding the competition, our team, or our fundraising goals at gjbhmx@umsystem.edu.
