Dr. Sandra K. Abell Scholarship

In honor and memory of Sandra’s commitment to science teaching, family and friends established a scholarship in her name. The Dr. Sandra K. Abell Science Education Award supports graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. in any science discipline who have demonstrated passion both in research and teaching.

Jesse Kremenak, a Ph.D. student in Physics & Astronomy, was awarded the 2016 Abell Scholarship. Jesse’s nominators cited his exemplary work in both elementary and undergraduate classrooms, helping students understand physics concepts. They also lauded his dedication to improving his own teaching skills, and his passion for engaging students in the love of science.

We want to reward more outstanding graduate students like Jesse, and have set an ambitious fundraising goal of building the Dr. Sandra K. Abell Scholarship endowment to $100,000. All gifts, large and small, make a difference as we work to enhance graduate education at the University of Missouri. Thank you very much for your support!
