Dr. Fred Spiegel’s devotion to the University of Missouri throughout his teaching career and through the rest of his life is a testament to his love of learning. After distinguished service in World War II and earning degrees in Illinois, he and his wife Barbara made their home in Columbia. His affinity for Mizzou and the community were so strong that he dedicated his entire career to the Department of Political Science at the University. A recipient of the MU Alumni Association’s prestigious Distinguished Faculty Award, Dr. Spiegel’s passion for teaching and pride in the work of his students made him a beloved member of the faculty, and University community. Gifts to this fund will honor Dr. Spiegel’s life and legacy in the Department of Political Science.
