The Together In Grief Easing Recovery (TIGER) Program was established in 2012 with support from the College of Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Office and the veterinary medical team of the Mizzou Veterinary Health Center (VHC). The mission of the TIGER Program is to provide community support to VHC clients. The death of pets is inevitable given their shortened lifespan relative to those of their owners. Grief responses to pet loss vary depending on environment, circumstances, social support, and level of attachment within the human-animal bond. The TIGER Program also works to provide education for veterinary medical students, residents, interns, and alumni around topic areas such as communication skills, grief and supporting families, and wellness. The TIGER Program aims to enable these learners to gain strategies to help their clients and strengthen their training. Thank you for supporting the Mizzou VHC TIGER Program.
