The Mississippi River Basin Ag & Water Desk covers agriculture, water, climate, energy and related issues across one of the largest river systems in the world, which is home to 70 million people from Canada to New Orleans and Montana to Pennsylvania.
Based at the Missouri School of Journalism, we are a collaborative network of journalists working to fill local news deserts with environmental and agricultural news. We partner with Report for America to place reporters in newsrooms throughout the region, and the Society of Environmental Journalists helps to provide training. We publish original research on the needs and interests of people in the basin.
We are also building the next generation of environmental journalists at the Journalism School. Students write stories, participate in training, conduct research, and more.
