A program and a university are based on the strength of its teachers, and no one can doubt the strength and quality that the late Dr. Subramanian Venkateswaran brought to his profession and the institutions that he impacted. Dr. Venkateswaran, former Vice Chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, was a great joy and an enormous source of inspiration for all at Sankara Netralaya/Vision Research Foundation. The community, friends, family, former colleagues and students have come together to create an endowment at the University of Missouri School of Medicine to recognize this leader, educator and visionary in his field. This fund will provide support for research in the areas of nanotechnology and nanomedicine, advanced research and formal training in nanomedicine – all focused on ophthalmic care, cancer therapy/imaging and related debilitating human conditions.
